The transfer window is far from finished, and new recruits might change a bit the hierarchy before the 1st of September. But right now, we can already see a couple of interesting trends on the market and establish a few predictions regarding the top teams. In the EPL and in Europe, three teams are dominating the scene for a couple of seasons: Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea . Here is an assessment of their current situations and their expectations for this season.
Manchester City: more of the same
Man City won the 2021-2022 title in a very close battle with Liverpool. For the new season, their team will remain stable, as usual with Pep Guardiola. Still, there is a strong reinforcement in the attacking line, with the arrival of soon-to-wed superstar Erling Haaland. The Norwegian has all the qualities to bring Manchester City to a new level. If he adapts fast to the intensity of the Premier League and Guardiola’s demanding playing style, the Citizens might be unstoppable this season.
Liverpool is revengeful
Last season had a bitter ending for the Reds. Liverpool lost the Premier League title by one point, and was defeated by Real Madrid in the Champions League final.Needless to say, J ü rgen Klopp's strive to succeed will be even sharpened by this misadventure. But will his team be able to dig deep again to go even further? Some fresh blood is welcome , and the arrival of striker Darwin Nunez is a step in the right direction. Liverpool must intensify the renewal of the squad to achieve their goals.
Chelsea: new beginnings
Chelsea FC had a tumultuous season with the departure of owner Roman Abramovich, to avoid the club being sanctioned because of his ties with Russia. The club was sold for $3.2 US to American investors led by one LA Dodgers baseball team shareholder. Chelsea’s situation is clarified, but the future remains a question mark. The team lost Lukaku and Rüdiger, two major players. Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly just joined. A new cycle starts, and so we might look at a transition season for the Blues.

With Liverpool having a difficult task to overcome a gigantic but eventually disappointing season, and Chelsea being a question mark, next season is likely to turn in favor of Manchester City, once again. Fans are now waiting for a long time for other sleeping giants in the premier League to join the battle . But Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham finished 20 points behind City and Liverpool last season. For them, it’s going to be a long, long way to the top if they want to rock the EPL again. In any case, we can expect as usual an exciting EPL season, with the best players on the planet displaying incredible matches and goals.
